With mercury soaring high during these sweltering summer months, we tend to get worried about the maintenance of our tresses. High temperature acts as a deterrent for silky and lustrous hair. Add to that, the daily amount of sweat, dirt, and grime. Heat and dust causes considerable damage to your hair. You need to maintain a healthy diet, coupled with a regular hair care regimen, to keep your tresses soft, shiny, and tangle-free.
Instead of running to a salon every now and then, and spending hundreds of rupees, you can actually acquire soft and manageable hair at the comfort of your home. Some basic steps will take care of your precious tresses, which are quite easy to follow and less time consuming. The most important step for getting healthy and shiny hair is drinking at least 10-12 glasses of water daily. This will flush out the toxins and keep your hair and skin healthy. A regular exercise routine will work wonders for your hair! While you exercise, there is an increase of blood flow in your body, which conditions your skin and hair, thereby making you feel and look younger. You have spectacular changes in your hair while working out.
For a homemade beauty treatment, take equal quantities of olive and pure coconut oil, and heat it lightly. Massage it onto your hair thoroughly. Now apply some honey and cover your scalp with a shower cap. You can use sesame oil instead of olive, if you wish. Rinse off with shampoo after 40 minutes. Do this at least once a week for smooth, silky, and lustrous hair. If you are suffering from split end problems, then the first solution would be to trim your locks after every ½ months. Pure coconut oil is a better option any day for healthy and manageable hair. Stay away from artificial colors, treatments, and hair-packs, which do irreparable damage to your hair.
If you have oily hair, use conditioner only at the ends. Use a clear shampoo instead of a moisturized one. For dry hair, massage olive or castor oil at night and shampoo off the next morning. Use moisturized, protein-enriched and aloevera shampoos and conditioners. If you have dull and limp hair, use lemon juice and egg yolk, which will add extra bounce to your hair. Don’t rub your hair harshly and allow for the accumulation of dead cells on your scalp. Comb your locks with a wide-toothed comb for better blood circulation in your hair follicles. Make a paste of amla, shikakai and ritha powder with lemon juice and apply on hair once a week. This will keep dandruff at bay and make your tresses soft and radiant. The two most vital reasons for hair fall are tension and dandruff. So make sure to check your dandruff and keep yourself happy. Remember, a happy mind translates itself in a glowing skin and hair.
